It’s that time of year again when Mental Health is thrown again into the community spot light and we can all be part of the conversation.

The mental health program (consumers and staff) would like to invite you to join us for the following events:

Monday 9th Oct-  Alive to Thrive will hold an interactive workshop
Friday 13th October our consumers have developed a film event screening “Healing Voices” at Elsternwick cinema with a discussion following. There will be popcorn!!!

“Healing Voices” focuses on the peer support movement in the US, though does reflect some contentious issues around psychiatry and treatment, so while this will be a platform for rich discussion, it may be important to support our more vulnerable clients with some of the themes.

These events will be open to all staff, clients and their family and friends, so please ensure you get in touch with either Ilona Morrison or Kate Nunan on mhgp@starhealth.org.au or ring 9525 1300 to RSVP.

This is a perfect time to get out there with your clients and do something different and fun.

2017 VFL PREMIERSHIP CHAMPIONS

Pic: Michael Klein

From Rags to Riches. The Port Melbourne VFL side has won the 2017 VFL premiership. They were underdogs against the Richmond Football Clubs VFL side.  Port (the Borough)is a stand alone club whose 2017 season started with players not taking payment to keep the season and club going. It's tough to compete against the might of AFL backed clubs which makes this win outstanding. Port residents please keep this in mind that you have a football club playing in the VFL at such a high level and then winning a premiership.

Congratulations to the players and to their loyal coach Gary Ayres.
